For many years, I’ve tried to settle my toes down on the road, but never succeeded. So many sweet homes & good people I met and adored, but always, my toes were humbly rumbled as there was always a missing (or, invisible) part, which made me float in the air like a ghost.

For last few months, I have been taking photographs as a weapon against the fear, sadness & disappointment from my recent life. As I am at home, it was easy, but not too easy to accept the fact that I am home. So true.

A beacon does not shine on its own base. But a camera does. In the end, it was a journey home to find myself again. I take photograph with those reasons.

This is a small glimspe from MaYa’s I Am Home series.

Stone Melts

As I laboured up those steps , the sky behind me darkened &

a light from inside beckoned me in.

The heaviness in my heart was lifted.

I cannot tell you what took place during the hours

I spent in that stone house.

Suffice it to say that I learned to understand my heart.

It was time to leave.

The sky had lightened, as had my heart, and

I returned to the world as a babe.

Stone lips bid me godspeed on my next journey.

He also tells us: “I have a BFA degree from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio with traditional printmaking as a major. I also have a MA degree from SUNY Oswego with a major in digital photography/photoshop and art history study in surrealism.  I worked in custom color labs and communication companies when I was younger and have taken photographs for many, many years. I have also been employed by SUNY Oswego for the past twenty-five years doing the same and soon to retire. I explore, search, record and present images of my daily life in the fine art tradition. My creative universe is expanding and I welcome it with open arms.”
